Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very unique 1958 General Electric 97U29 model controlled magnetic microphone based on the more common Shure Brothers 510C model "Hercules". This 97U29 comes with an original short cable and chrome stand adapter so that you may mount this mic on any desk or floor stand you have. Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics.

This will make a great dispatch, general broadcasting or harp mic. The signal is perfect and has an old school "rockabilly" sound.

A very muddy, dirty tone that some musicians and singers like. The element is a 99H86 white label type. It should be noted right away that this microphone had a longer 7 foot cable but the cable was quite damaged in several spots so I shortened it and applied a period male Cannon XLR end connector.

The microphone should use a female XLR to male 1/4 inch cable as an extension only. If you use an XLR to XLR cable you won't get a signal.

This General Electric 97U29 model came with it's own distinct blue grey / paint scheme and General Electric badge and insignia. The painted body on this mic shows typical lite wear. Very tiny paint chips and scratches.

This little mic has a bit of weight to it being an all metal construction. The original grey colored cloth screen has zero rips, odors or discoloration. It's appx 4 inches tall (with the lower adapter attached) X 2 1/2 inches wide. The GE badge and logo are still present and show just lite wear.

Please let the detailed pics be your guide. This mic was designed to either sit on it's own or to be mounted to a taller desk or floor stand. You can remove the chrome adapter via screw if you don't need it. The mic has a short cable that's just 6 inches in length.

It's still soft and pliable. Again, comes with the vintage male Cannon XLR end connector that shows virtually no wear and is properly wired. The 97U29 is an easy 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE... USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

I do have several older stand available in my online store if you need one for this mic. I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. Simply return in the same nice condition... International buyers are welcome as well. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...
