Antique 1933 GE General Electric 10 Art Deco Quiet Fan Modernist Design Runs
Fresh from an estate is an iconic electric fan manufactured by the General Electric Company in 1933 and designed by Joseph Goslin. Marketed as the "Quiet Fan", it introduced an overlapping blade design that resembles a boat motor propeller. The striking deco design has helped make this fan an icon among GE vintage fans. GE made two colors of this fan -- one in black and one in brown -- this is an example of the more scarce brown color. Please see the patent drawing in the picture. A copy of the patent will be included with the fan! Whether cleaned-up or fully restored, the fan is highly desirable and an amazing example of art deco design. The fan is all original (save for a new period-correct cloth cord and plug) and in good vintage condition with lots of age appropriate wear.
There is substantial paint loss on the blades and base, and lots of red paint splatters on the base. The original label on the underside of the fan is intact and interesting to read.
The fan head can be titled up and down by loosening/tightening a knob on the bottom of the fan's neck. Please see pictures to visually inspect the fan's cosmetic condition.The fan is a one speed model (off / on) and runs smoothly and quietly via the toggle switch in the front base of the fan. The fan features 10' diameter blades with overall height of 13", width of 10.5", and depth of 7.25. Vintage fans make wonderful, unique, and highly distinctive birthday, wedding, and holiday gifts. As it really conveys the 1930s. Please note: in some photos there may be a very faint vertical yellow-ish line on the left third of the photo. This is an issue with the camera, the line is not evident on the fan! The fan will be expertly packed - it will be securely wrapped with 2-3 layers of bubble-wrap, double-boxed, and very securely packed.Please see my feedback to learn how much clients appreciate the time and care I take in packing their items.
