1959 General Electric Vintage Electric Range J305S Clean and Fully Functional

  
This is a barely-used General Electric Vintage 1959 Electric Range J305S on which everything works! This range was "rescued" from the curbside many years ago by me and my brother, when a well-to-do neighbor down the road remodeled her kitchen. She rarely cooked at home, so the range that went to the curb (this one) was in very good shape. Our mom, who couldn't stand to see something of value being discarded, ordered us boys to bring it home... Our dad installed an electrical outlet for the range when it was located in the basement of our childhood home.

Our Mom kept it as a "spare" but she never ended up using it. The range is a GE model J305S. It is fully-featured, including an electrically-operated rotisserie spit that mounts on a special oven shelf and accommodates a large roast. Before listing it for sale, I verified that everything is still functional... Including the fluorescent tube that illuminates the cooktop and lights up the General Electric logo on the front.

The stove is in beautiful aesthetic condition, with everything being very clean. The only obvious defect is a small chip in the enamel on the left front stovetop edge. The main photo shows an overview of the stove. Photo 2 shows the front panel with the top light illuminated -- notice the GE logo glowing! The third photo shows a closer view of the control panel. The four top burner coils (original, genuine GE "Calrod" coils) are controlled by pushbutton switches that run across the top of the control panel. Oven controls (bake, timed bake or broil mode and temperature setting dial) are set on both sides of the clock. The clock and kitchen timer both work as they should, with a buzzer that sounds when the timer reaches zero. Photo 4 shows the reeded glass backsplash which mounts between the legs of the control panel. There are two AC outlets on the control panel front; the upper is always on and the lower can be used with the timer to control a coffee pot, etc.

There is a small control knob that activates the rotisserie motor or the oven light. There is also a red rectangular indicator lamp on the left side of the control panel that illuminates when any burner is turned on. Photo 5 shows the oven door open.

Photo 6 shows a detailed view of the oven shelves, the rotisserie spit and forks and a special rotisserie support shelf. You can see the oven's interior is very clean. The oven light also works. Photo 7 is a closeup of the small enamel chip on the front of the range top.

Photo 8 is a picture of the tag on the back of the range that shows the model number. This range should be a great find for someone who appreciates mid-century modern appliances and is looking for one that is fully-functional AND in very good aesthetic condition. I hope this is you!
