DESCRIPTION: Offering a GE, General-Electric, Art Deco "Cleopatra" Bakelite and Plaskon vanity box from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. The bottom is black and the top is green. Plaskon was invented in 1931 by Toledo Scale Co. They needed a white plastic instead of the black or brown bakelite and found they could also dye Plaskon different colors.
Unlike the later GE Worlds Fair boxes of 1939 which were marked on the bottom, the earlier 1933 versions were not. Minor, hard to photograph marks on one bottom edge and two on top edge of the black side of the box. The green in the photo is not quite the actual green. MEASUREMENTS (Approximate): 5 3/4" long x 5-1/2"wide and stands 3 1/4 high.
